you could try to catch rides on craigslist.org from one place to the next? Road-tripping in the US is a great way to see the country. I just recently did a 31 day/7500 mile trip and it was perhaps one of the best experiences of my life.

I registered on Craigslist topost my Message there but you have to do some strange Phone verification, so I haven't done that by now. Did you find you people on Craigslist ?
heads up...drinking age is 21.
Of course you can still have a good time but still...South Beach when you're 20 is not the same South Beach as when you're 21!
You might as well come a few days earlier to enjoy America's Birthday on July 4th - fireworks, etc.
