Malaysia - Cameron Highlands to Penang

TTT2010 has indicated that this thread is about Malaysia

Camping is not at all common in Malaysia, and there are no actual camp sites like there are in Europe etc. And you might get some very strange looks! The only time people really camp is when doing long jungle treks. However you can buy tents , in the sporting section of department stores such as Parkson, Jusco, and Carrefour supermarket sells cheaper tents. Or you can go to a specialised outdoor equipment shop.
Nov will be monsoon season, so it might not be good to camp then.
If you go to Taman Negara they have a camp site where you can rent tents.

Not sure about direct bus from CH to Penang, but you can certainly go via Ipoh.

Yes, there are public direct buses from Tana Rata to Georgetown.

More info about camping in Cameron Highlands . Do bring lotsa warm clothing and blanket, as it can be very cold in the early hours of the morning.

You can buy the Cameron Highlands to Penang bus ticket at the Tanah Rata bus station at Cameron Highlands, when you alight from the bus. No pre-booking is needed.

Have fun!

Just to confirm there is a direct bus to Georgetown, I've taken it myself.

Hi TTT2010,

There are plenty of buses at regular intervals both from & to KL and Penang. I, myself have taken one from Penang to cameron Highlands and then from there to KL.

Which way do you want to go?
In KL you can go to bus stop 'Pudu Raya' for a direct bus to Cameron Highlands. In Penang, go to bus sentral (that's correct spelling ) (not Komtar). From there you'll get buses for either Cameron highlands directly or till Ipoh.
All buses to & fro Cameron highlands will touch Ipoh, a junction.

November is not a good time for camping at Cameron highlands. rains, mountains & winter time.
