Looking for adivce from travelers who have spent a bit of time in Romania. Orginally I had planned to visit Bucharest and Brasov.
In Transylvania apart from Brasov you should definitely visit Sibiu and Sighisoara. If you're interested in slightly larger cities also see Cluj.
If you have the time to go to other regions of Romania try to visit Iasi and Timisoara.
Don't remove Bucharest, it does have a few places worth seeing (but one or maximum two days are enough for it).
And keep in mind that cities aren't the main attraction in Romania, the rural and natural areas are much more interesting.

Brasov is possibly the best choice you could make! I'd also recommend: Sinaia and Busteni which are quite close to Brasov and cheap to get to by train. If you're a fan of the seaside you could try Constanta, although it is quite far away from Transylvania.
Like the person above said, Sibiu and Sighisoara are definitely worth visiting! But Bucharest isnt too impressive and not that worth visiting imho.
Also i'd recommend the district of Maramures and the northern part of the moldavian region, cities such as: Piatra Neamt and Suceava.
If you do go to brasov, i'd say go a bit further to the south and travel on the Transfagarasan highway, its an amazingly beautiful sight to see!
While in Brasov make sure you go to Poiana Brasov!
The Romanian mountainside is astonishing!
