Lovely place to spend a month. Other than the regular traveller locations like Shimla, Manali, Dharamshala and Dulhousie you must keep the following in your itinerary: Kalpa(Kinnaur), Kaza and Keylong in Lahaul Spiti, Khajjiar near Dulhousie and Naldhera near Shimla. How do you plan to travel ? if you are a motorbike enthusiast ,I can put you on to some people who organise biking tours in Himachal. If you need any help with accommodation let me know.

checkout this site [snip]. These people run a hotel at Narkanda , a couple hours drive from Shimla. They organise biking tours. Try them
in the Karol Bagh area of Delhi, has a good reputation for bike rental.
In Manali Sony and Bonny are the boys to see for bikes and info. And across the valley in Vashist is Anu who can also rent you a bike.
You don't need a tour, but you do need to be experienced on a bike. The roads can be hard work in places and the traffic..well its India.
