Need advice please!!!

Hi all!

There are cheap flights around Asia, or long range buses. Vietnam is a long country with something like 850 miles between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. From Laos (I would spend a bit more time in these 3 countries places rather than rushing through them) you can go west to Chiang Mai, then south to Bangkok.

I assume you mean through Malaysia to Singapore? Not a lot in Singapore after a week. Accommodation is expensive. You can travel through Indonesia by bus and train to Bali. Not that easy but rewarding. One week in Bali is enough for many. Be careful of pick pockets and being short changed there.

Hong Kong is going back on yourself. Hanoi is about 550 miles from it, so a short hop on a plane then HK to Laos on the return.

8 months in Australia? I assume you have a reason for so long there? Don't expect to find work there. It is often cheaper to buy a flight to NZ from Australia outside Australia. Still not that cheap though.

Have you got all your visas arranged as well as inoculations and pills? Do buy insurance.

To start in Indochina, I would get an inexpensive Air Asia flight from Bangkok to Hanoi, and then work your way south via the Viet coast to Saigon and on into Cambodia. I suggest train over bus travel in Vietnam. Buy online at the Air Asia website.
