Planning 90 Day trip to SEAsia around Thai Visa restrictions

DesmondHum has indicated that this thread is about Thailand

I have flown into BKK over 10 times and never had a visa beforehand. Citizens of most western countries are given a free 30 day visa on arrival. Your plan has you exiting Tland before the 30 day time period expires. Perfect. Tour Laos, VN, Cam. then enter again overland. You get a 15 day visa on arrival. Head south and tour Malaysia. Either fly KUL-BKK on or overland again to BKK and home. I would fly this leg.

You do have another option. Thailand is now offering free tourist visas until March 2011. Contact your Thai Embassy and ask about the tourist visa and explain your travel plans. Perhaps they will recommend flying in with the tourist visa. What many airlines do not like is a one way ticket. You have a return ticket and that should satisfy both your airline and Thai Immigration.

Good luck with your planning.

Alright cool thanks!

I was exploring the free visa option now actually because my concern is that (at least according to travelfish) British Airways can be kind of weird with flights so I call BA but their call center reps keep referring me to the consulate. I'm trying to speak to someone at BA that would be able to tell me whether they'll let me on the plane to go to Thailand in the first place.

Most airliners wont let you on the plane if you dont have a visa and your "exceeds 1 month".

Just do like I did a few weeks back : go to the embassy and get a free 3 month visa.

Enjoy

I guess thats the consensus lol...

Thanks.. I assume it's best go to the consulate come December 1st?
