Brazil

Hi,

Hello,

I'm not touring Brazil but I DO live here and am so siked to know you're touring MY country. Are you going to the Iguaçu Falls? That's one awsome place! If you can you should go there. Even tho I live here I actually havn't done very much touring, sad to say. I still hope to have that privilege some day!

Have a GREAT time!

Hi!!!!

Thanks very much for your well wishes! I am not sure I will go to Iguacu falls since I visited them a few months ago when I was touring Argentina. If you want, I will keep you updated on my travels and anything interesting I discover about your country if you want. I know many Brazilians have not travelled around their country and this is understandable since it is HUGE! Maybe when I get to places you can give me a tip or two.

This Sunday, my next stop will be Sao Paulo city where I stay for a week. Espero mais noticias suas

Ryan

Hey you know portuguese, too?

That's neat that you've been to Iguaçú. What did you think of it?
And you're right about Brazil being huge... The few places I've been are- Mato Grosso, Tocantins, São Paulo State, & Paraná. Tocantins is really beautiful, but I didn't manage to get to one of the main tourist atractions, the Dunas de Jalapão.

If you really don't mind, I would like to hear about what you see and do.

Kathlene

Hi,

Yes I know Portuguese as well. I am studying a degree in French and Spanish. Portuguese is one of my minor courses. I will tell you what, I have a rough idea of what I am going to do here in Brazil. I am heading to Sao Paulo city this Sunday where I will spend one week then I will work my way to Rio de Janeiro. As I head further north, you can probably advise me on the things to see and of course where they are!!! It would be be really nice. I am really happy that you found interest in my trip here in Brazil. Hope to hear from you soon!

Ryan

Ya, well I really don't know if I'll be able to give you any advice... I'm sure you'll be going to cool places I've never been before. But keep me posted and you might end up somewhere I've been already. Are you going to SP city? My folks were there a few wks ago but just on business so they didn't do any touring.

I've always thot it would be neat to learn French... but the only languages I know are Portuguese and English. Maybe someday I'll get there yet.

Kat

Hey Kat,

Can you advise me on the number of days I should spend in Brasilia? At the moment, I am due in Panaty tomorrow to spend 2 days there, then I will go to Rio for a week, then to Belo Horizonte for a week so I can have a look at some of the towns there like ouro preto, tiradentes, diamantina... Then I leave for Brasilia. I would like to know how long you think I should spend there. The next stop will be Salvador and I am thinking of flying but I will need to know soon how long I stay in Brasilia in order to book a flight. Is there anything to see or do between Brasilia and Salvador so that maybe I can take the bus, I have looked and there doesn't seem to be anything really that is worth it.

I know you are not an expert but I am only asking because maybe you know the answer Also, I am keeping you updated with my destinations and plans :D Hope to hear from you soon!

Ryan

Well, I'll admit you kinda put me in a hard spot... I've been to Brasília, but only for a few hours before my flight to SP, when we went to the US several yrs. ago... so as you can see I didn't really do any sightseeing. We basically were at the US Embassy a little bit n then left. If it were me, I probobly wouldn't spend more than 2 days there. It's a shame that it's just a skip n a hop away and I havn't toured it. You can maybe go to the zoo... (just kidding) If you're like me, zoo's have lost their charm...

'K, good luck! -Kat

PS- How was SP? What did you see there?

Hey,

I visited Luz Station and some museums around there like Museum for Portuguese language, Pinacoteca and also the Luz Gardens. I also did the city tour which showed me the old down town area which was very interesting. Went to the Municipal Market where they have lots of different fruits. It was really nice. I went to the top of this bank where you can see all of SP. That was good too for getting a scale of just how big the city is! I did the Masp as well. I did quite a lot in the time I was there. I am now in Rio and I did the Favela tour as soon as I got here. It was certainly worth it! I decided to stay only 2 days in Brasilia. So from Brasilia, I fly to Salvador since webjet is cheaper that the bus by $R70! and the bus was 23 hours. Big difference I'd say so I am closely monitoring the flights to places that I visit next.

Any recommendation whatsoever, drop me a line and I will take it on board! Hope all is well with you.

Ryan

Hi,

Sounds like you're having fun!
And wow again about the cheaper webjet tickets! Thats a pretty good deal! Much handier to fly than to take the bus!

'K, hope you keep on enjoying yourself!

Até mais, Kat
