Getting around in Santorini

Hi!!

From the port of Athinios (where ferries dock) there is a bus to Fira (the capital) and many taxies and mini buses. Same from the airport. Taxies are a flat fare to the various villages ranging from 10 to 30 euros. The mini buses are cheaper, ussually 5 to 8 euro per person. But the mini buses will leave when full (ussually very quickly at the port ) and then make several stops droping off the people.
Buses on the island are running with a very simple pattern. They all start from Fira to all the villages and from the villages back to Fira. So from Oia to e.g. Perivolos Beach (black sand beach) you have to take a bus to Fira and then switch to another bus Fira-Perivolos.
Mid-September is still high season so buses are running every 30 minutes approx.
Taxies are a bit expensive especially to and from Oia because it is at the very end of the island (northern tip). Consider renting a car. and always pay for CDW (full insurance). Road to Oia is a bit tricky, full of sharp bends. Very important: There is no gas station after Imerovigli untill Oia. So fill up your car ahead!!!

My 2 cents.
Regards
