Hi, a mate and I are travelling by motorcycle from Newprt Beach CA, via Las Vegas to Sturgis is South Dakota, between 1 and 8 August 2011. We'd like to take in Yellowstone as part of the trip. We're looking for advice on the bset roads to take, to enable us to cover that distance in that time. We're quite comfortable riding up to 400 miles per day, but would pefer to keep to an average of 250ml/day if possible. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. We will be looking to stay in hotels/motels along the way and have already become aware of the high costs around Yellowstone, which we have budgetred for.
Plan to take along some kind of hydration system for the ride, such as a camelback type water carrier with a feed tube into your helmet or frequent stops, as the route you are taking will be very hot.
