I got quoted for €663 from Cork via Hong Kong to Melbourne in March flying with cathay pacific. they were the cheapest.
I booked mine through a travel agents, and cant remember the name of the airline we actually settled on.
Also, im sure all of them have to be some way comfy..im hoping so any ways! don't fancy spending all those hours being all cramped up!

Direct flights are a rip > I just booked 2 flights for 2012 > Belgium - iNDIA £209 & Singapore - Oz - £ 200 > & I belive you can get a flight from India to singapore for £80-£100 > so that would be the cheapest option > it would take a little longer but you would save between £100-£150.
You should also looks at flights to China - Philippines - Oz > Im certain you can get a flight to china for under £300 then china > Philippines is £80 > Philippines to Oz is £120 max.

I checked the for Dublin-Sydney roundtrip and got these prices:
March - 893 Euro on Emirates
August - 1143 Euro on Etihad
for one way - 694 Euro on Etihad March or August
don't wait till the last minute to book, or you'll pay much more!
