Sydney accomodation disaster (?)

Hi

You could try short term lets or couchsurfing, try gumtree.

Try searching for changing number of days on . Many hostels have rules like a 7 or even 10 night minimum around New Years.
If you're female (your username could indicate either way I think) then currently has a vacancy in a 10 bed female dorm for AUD $55 per night for the 30th/31st/1st, which is extremely cheap, considering. (Most regularly priced hostel beds in Sydney are booked 6+ months in advance for New Years.) Or has female dorms (6 and 10 bed) available for a 10 night minimum with prices during that time ranging from AUD $26-85, while seems to have an eight bed dorm available for a 10 night minimum, at AUD $27-29/night for most nights, and AUD $295 for the 31st and 1st. Other places are even more outrageously expensive.

Your alternative would be leaving Sydney straight after arriving. Definitely don't expect to find anything while there.

Hi, i'm going to Sydney for the 29th december, not booked anywhere but i'm staying with my mate out there.
travelling up the east coast after that, let me know if you're on the same route?

or you could try roomorama.com?

thanks for the help guys, ive managed to find space at Manly Backpackers, although i havent booked it yet.
i must admit the reviews on it have been awful, have any of you stayed there before?

My advice would be get anything you can and get it ASAP, who cares if its not great, surely its better than sleeping rough!

Sydney is booked up months in advance for NYE, so I wouldn't be picky just get what you can. Things calm down the day after so you will be able to move on as soon as you like.

Trains and ferries run late on NYE so getting back to Manly from the CBD shouldn't be a problem.

agreed, and thanks for the tips - ive booked a bed at kings cross backpackers for 9 nights although im slightly nervous they wont honour the booking as has happened to me a few times recently - have emailed them to double check.

only a few weeks now, need to get my flat packed away asap !

hey jamie, i live in bondi, duno what im doing for new years yet no plans really il be out and about somewhere are you still stuck for somewhere to stay?

Mariessa
