I'd strongly recommend doing it in the opposite direction, or even only doing the Brisbane to Melbourne stretch (maybe adding in Tasmania or the Great Ocean Road to Adelaide), as early February is still the middle of the wet season up north (say everywhere above Brisbane), which means torrential rains and very unpleasant humidity.
