Not stupid question at all!! I've worried about it too in the past....
Going into Australia, yes you can carry prescription medicines with you, up to a 3 month supply... there is no problem if your name is printed on the package (by the chemist/ pharmacist), or you can also carry a letter (translated into English if needs be) from your doc outlining what meds you take and why.

Hi,
I guess because it's Oz, there is a good chance they will have the medication you need over there. Also a lot cheaper I figure.
Better to bring doctor's prescription and buy it over there.
