Hi,
Im booking flights to go to Australia in May 2012, my friend and her boyfriend are over there just now working. The communication isnt good as she doesnt have good reception anymore, and im now a bit scared that i will arrive and no one will be there!!! I think its just nerves to be honest but like to have a back up plan of what im doing. I know im flying to Brisbane and what i have seen on the forums is that i shouldnt panic and everyone is really friendly. My main concerns are that where will i stay, work and meeting people.
If anyone has any suggestions on what to do, they would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks!!!
For places to stay, try hostelbookers.
For work, you need a work visa and like everywhere else, Australia has suffered some from the down turn so it may be difficult or impossible to get a job unless you have a skill that is in demand.
As to meeting people, the same as anywhere else. You could try the Travel Companions forum here.
There is the unknown when flying somewhere you have not been before but when there you find everything falls into place, with some minor hiccups, and you later wonder what you were worried about.
I was not greatly impressed with Brisbane but like the Gold Coast a little way south of it.
You can search the best travel site from search engine such as Google and you can contact from travel agency for best suggestion.
Hey Sazza,
I am also heading to Australia alone and flying on 16th May from Birmingham - Sydney. I plan on staying there for over a week or so and then heading up the East Coast and go with the flow kinda thing!
