I would like to go to India in the last week of July for 5 weeks. I know this is the monsoon season but was wondering if any one could suggest a route they have tried that avoids the rain...? Big ask I know but any advise greatly appriciated.
Ladakh is a good bet. It's in the rain shadow of the Himalayas so gets very little rain any time of year. I spent the month of July there a few years ago and didn't get a drop. It was a very different story though as we started coming back to Himachal Pradesh and we had got caught in some landslides.
Rajasthan is also a good bed. Since it's a desert, it gets much less rain than the rest of the country. I spend August there and got mostly overcast skys, but no rain at all.
