Needs little help - Travelling from Sydney to Cairns mid April and really do not know the Best places to stop off at if any one can help? Best places to see or activities to do would be a great help. Even some great cheap and cheerful places to stay - information appreciated as this is my first time travelling so bit nervous, Thank you x

The main usual stops are :
Byron Bay. Beautiful and laid back hippy atmosphere, great surfing, lighthouse walk. Worth going into the hinterland if you can. Nudist beach at Bilongil beach
Brisbane, and head out to Australia Zoo, Steve Erwin.
Noosa Heads, AYH is a really nice old building, clean and well priced. Nice ocean walk, nudist beach here too!
Fraser Island for 4x4 camping on the beach, the two stop offs are either Rainbow beach, or Hervey Bay.
Airlie beach for a boat trip out to Whitsunday Islands.
Possibly a stop at Mission beach.
Then up to Cairns.
