Alright boys and girls.

June and July is the rainy season in Asia and while you may not get a lot, you may get heavy rain day after day. Best weather is end of November till April. June-July is winter in Australia.

You could book a flight to Australia with a stop over in Asia there and back (as it's a long flight) stopping at say Thailand on the way out and Singapore on the way back.

Public transport in Asia is pretty good and for long distances there are budget airlines like AirAsia, the Asian equivalent of Ryanair.

Many, many thousands of tourists travel these routes each year and you will have little trouble with English. You can book tickets as you go, or even use a travel agent. Khao San Road has a number.

You will need some visas for Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Australia. Thailand you get 30 days free if you arrive by air and 15 days by land. Other visas you will have to pay for, and I would get the Australia one before leaving home.

As I said, lots of other tourists about if you want to travel around with some others. But you can pick up travel insurance quite cheap. Book your flights early for the best deals. Check with Boots or another chemist to see what injections you might need. Accommodation is best booked online beforehand rather than wandering around with your luggage when you get there.

The only real danger in Asia is petty theft, as in pick pocketing. Especially in Bangkok.
