Just a quick question to see if anyone has had any experience similar and if it got resolved.....
According to AirAsia's :
AirAsia X will offer guests who hold bookings after these dates an alternative travel option at no additional cost to mitigate the inconvenience caused as a result of these route withdrawals.
All affected guests will receive an e-mail stating options that are available to them, including a full refund, a reroute to another AirAsia X destination (e.g, in Australia and North Asia), or a move to an alternative carrier where available.
(emphasis all mine)
If the email your friend received does not contain the options they say they'll offer, contact them directly. There's an "e-Form" and also a Live Chat service at the bottom of the press release page. I have used the e-Form a year ago and the staff was pretty quick in getting back to me (via e-mail and phone) to resolve my problem. Alternatively, . I hope your friend gets the same level of response from them.
