I want to go somewhere at the end of July for 5 weeks, I had my heart set on India but the monsoon is putting me off...
Does any one have any suggestions of places that are good to visit at this time of year?
I like a bit of everything, the natural, manmade, crazy and calm. I am a keen diver and love the beach but also would like a bit of hiking/trekking...
I can take the heat but rain :-(
ANY suggestions or advice would be great!

Sorry... should have said I am one of these so called 'work shy' people who are employed by a school term time only :-) being that I live in the UK i make the most of the short holidays visiting Europe and such but for the long one (6 weeks) I would like to get further afield! I am use to travelling solo and have done 4 years on the trot but was just seeing of theres somewhere that someone can suggest that is new...

you mean you want to travel to Indian? pls don't. you will be disapported. i have been there last year.What's more i have gone to almost all Asia country, if you prefer Asia,I suggest the South Asia like China(this one is really very very amazing),Japan,Singapore(beautiful country) etc.BTW i have created my blog last week to share my trips and experiences .hope it can help you.My motto is: let's go

I'm not fan of Asia, so, my Asian expirience is limited.
But if it's not abt Asia - then I would say you Latin America. It's enough exotic and great dive spot + tracks, nature, very interesting culture(s) and all the rest. But August is rain season in most of countries. Tropical rains is serious thing - means you cant do jungle and many other things. What i think abt, as the region is huge (from Mexico to Chilie) - it can't be a prob. everywhere. If it sounds you like n idea - you may check up abt climate in specific countries.
I have been in Central America few years ago (incl. dive) and can't wait to return back to this region. I didn't have enough time to go South, but next time I will do. In 6 weeks you may "do" 2-3 countries, if they are not too large (Not size of Brazile or Mexico, but alike Guatemala or Costa Rica).
