hi,don't worry. you may try to contact the local International Youth Travel Alliance. just google for it. whenever i traveled i lived there as it's cheaper than hotels.Moreover it's safe, and you can meet person like you from all over the world. just have a try,you would meet nice person there instead of scams. good luck~

In Bangkok you can sign up for tours from local travel agencies. Visit a travel agency and see what tours they have available. Usually you choose one one day and leave the following morning. They pick up at your hotel and bring you back at the end of the trip. I have never had a problem booking a tour from a Bangkok travel agency - ever - in over 12 years. I have done this for myself and for visiting friends. The only time I hear or read about problem travel agencies have been travel agencies in the Khao San Road area. Usually involving theft on buses or crappy buses that break down.
On these tours you are usually in passenger vans with other tourists. This is a good way to meet other people. You will also meet other people in bars, hostels and hotels and using long distance transportation.
