Inactive member online?

How can be online now if he is inactive?

Being "Inactive" just means that all your contributions (outside of the forum and wiki) get deleted, and that you can't log in anymore. It doesn't touch an active session though, so this person probably just happened to be logged in and surfing when Sam or Peter banned their account (I'm assuming that's what happened) and continued to do so for a while after.

It should actually terminate an active session is my understanding, however the 'now online' list is cached for 10 mins or so. How long was the member on there that you noticed Mike? I have noticed some weirdness here in the past but not lately.

Haha. Told you Sander. Im good.

Huh?

I just kept the 'members online' list on there and refreshed it quite a few times, probably just around that 10 minutes or so.
But he was already inactive but could see his contributions as well in the forum.

So he was contributing while you were looking at the list of online members, and he was already listed as being inactive? In that case it must be session related...

No, not exactly. I saw his contribution to a thread on the main forum page so checked that one. It was a new one, but at least some minutes old. And then checked his profile to see if he had more contributions, mainly because of his username, which includes the word 'tours', probably the most popular word for usernames lol
So I thought it was strange because neither you nor Peter were online and therefore he probably inactivated his own account right after his last post, or he was already inactive and could have posted still.....

Hope this makes sense

I did a check and can tell you he didn't inactivate himself I actually vaguely remember inactivating this user, but can't really remember when I did it. I think you're right though that he was still logged in in some way and able to get another post in. I've reset his password now, which I think means his active sessions won't work, if still active.

The banned members remaining logged in and making posts thing is not new; I've seen several occurrences of it over the last couple of years; which is why I thought that banning wasn't even intended to end the session.

Kiwi_Dan's remark was about this particular member being banned, as he'd reported her to me as a likely spammer. At that point there wasn't yet anything she'd posted (or at least undeleted) that was cause for taking action, though her account certainly gave all signs of the eventual banning to come.
