Im Michelle, and Im planning to travel to Oz from first week in July. Probably around the 8th. Am from Kent, UK and am happy to travel in the UK to meet someone and fly out together to the East coast.
Have never done anything like this before and being a female on my own, I'd like a travel companion to fly out there with me.

I'm Nick and I've been looking into travelling to Oz on a years working visa too. Would like to start off in Sydney and will also be travelling on my own. Currently looking into OzIntro as it seems they help you out with alot of things, such as bank account, sim card, tax number, job database etc.
Have you got your visa and flights etc booked up yet?

I'm looking to travel out in late Aug and go via the YHA to do a Jillaroo course and then, hopefully travel west to find work.
Theres so many different groups to go with Im finding it a bit confusing!!
In terms of your flights, have you booked one way or return? Im under the impression I'd be cheaper to buy a return and then change the return date once Im there, although its a bit of a mystery how much it costs to do this and what flight providers actually allow you to do this. Cheapest flight Ive found is £649 from Edinburgh to Sydney.

Im also itching to get going lol but just trying to make sure I've got everything planned and sorted. With the flight situation i haven't booked as of yet but this site may be of help: http://www.statravel.co.uk/ They advertise cheaper flights if your under 26 years old, but as for a return they dont seem to have any for a years time so not sure what to do
But that price seems reasonable judging by some I've looked at from London

I'm 27 so I've missed the boat on STAs deals! Haha! It's a good website but I've noticed on all the websites, it doesn't go as far as a year in advance. I'm looking for the cheapest flight possible without compromising on the length of time it'll take to get there! Longest I've seen is like 40hours and shortest 23hrs.
Might do some enquiring about the whole open ticket thing. I don't know if you have to leave from the same airport or what!
Ahh bad times, just missed out. Skyscanner is another good site. Yea ive found that they only go like 10 months from the day you book. Ideally the shorter the better but sometimes the shorter they are its more expensive! Work that one out lol.
