I will be travelling to Macau/Hong Kong from 6th March to 13 March..Anyone here will be there too? Probably, we can plan together which is a budget-type travelling. =)
March is a low season in Hong Kong and you won't have trouble finding hotels and restaurant bookings except for the weekends. If it's your first time going to Hong Kong, you should familiarize with the MTR train system as basically there are 3 regions in Hong Kong: Hong Kong island, Kowloon, and New Territories.
Hong Kong
Urban and middle upper class areas with the fancy restaurants and historical buildings from the British Era.
One way you can do it - Take the MTR to causeway bay for lunch and work your way towards Central at night for dinner and drinks. Causeway Bay -> Wan Chai -> Admiralty -> Central
Kowloon
Urban class with the tallest building in Tsim Sha Tsui (one of the MTR destinations). There are several spots in Kowloon that have concentrated food outlets and shopping outlets. One attraction is to take the ferry from TST port, bringing you to Hong Kong Island side. The ferries have been running for decades.
You can - Take MTR to Tsim Sha Tsui and work your way up to the Ladies Market. There is a Hong Kong Tourism Board in TST where they provide travel services and tips. Ask the Peninsula Hotel in TST and they'll kindly direct you to it.
New Territories
The suburban area along with docks that brings in fresh seafood and much of the natural scenery is spread out through this area. You should expect higher transportation costs as it's difficult to get around without a taxi.
At the airport there's a new travel technology in Hong Kong called handy and basically it's a real-time updated digital guide of Hong Kong also comes with international calls and 3G internet both unlimited usage costing at US$8 per day. Has travel tips and itineraries etc...
Have fun.
