Wildlife experience in Cambodia

Hi All,

Hi there!

Away from the traditional trip to Angkor and other temples, there are many off-beat activities to do in Cambodia. Explore the wilderness of the upcoming eco-tourist hotspot, the Cardamom Mountains. Consider travelling through the little village of Tatai and the area around it if you'd like to go trekking or kayaking. Or visit Preah Monivong National Park (a.k.a. Bokor National Park) hosting many endangered species including the tiger and learn to be a mahout in the villages of the Mondulkiri region.

If you're looking for the endangered Irrawaddy dolphins, head to the riverside town of Kratie. Visit the dolphin pool of Kampi, which is the largest dolphin pool on the Mekong River and the natural habitat of the critically endangered Mekong Dolphin (Irrawaddy Dolphin) that only lives in fresh water deep pools.

Since you've already done your research on birding in Cambodia, you'll already know that Prek Toal, Florican Grasslands, and Tmatboey are some of the best spots for bird watching!

Hope that helps. Let me know if you have more questions!

Dear friend!

Thank you very much for your such much good information about wildlife experience in Cambodia. Honestly, those information are very interest me, but I think now I am very keen to see the real wildlife in their natural habitat where is serving the protection.

I found a website about an endanger species of gibbon spotting Cambodia tour in the northern of the country. Their website is very interesting and touching me. Well there are some companies who do that in the area but look not very specific and professional. I think their price is very good compare with what they offer and the quality of the tour they mention.

My wondering is getting some more suggestions from you and all friends who ever heard of this particular tour.

Thank you very much.......

Hi Sam!

Glad you found the information useful. As far as I know, you can spot gibbons at Ratanakiri in the Cardamom Mountains. This is a great spot for trekking and discovering many different types of wildlife including gibbons, elephants, macaques, and leopards. There are many small villages around this area which are ideal for cultural learning.

I'll send you a message with the link of a tour you might like. Please let me know if it interests you.
