looking for practical advice on my upcoming journey

I have already got airfare from US to Oslo on August 21st, and coming back home on September 17th from Dusseldorf in Germany
Now, i am searching on internet to find the best way on travel inside those countries by land, i've also checked prices on Eurail passes, i can get to 8-10 days for up to $500, but still confuse - is that cheaper to just go there and use the train, ferry, or buses around there and pay in their currency?
My plan is to stay 2 days in Oslo, than go to Bergen and from there to Nutshell for 3 days to see best fjords, northern lights, etc, they have a train to Stockholm, stay 1-2days there, take an Arctic Circle train to Gotenburg-Malmo-Are, and from there go to Copenhagen and vicinity, i was thinking that 11-12 days would be enough to at least have a picture of Scandinavia,
can anybody give me a hand if i am thinking in a right way
and around Sept, 2-3 - go around Germany, starting from Berlin and go south to Bavaria, where my friends, who live in Europe join me and we'll taking some ferried along Reine river
So, whoever been there - please advice me as best knowledge as you have, i would be really appreciate for it.
Thanks to all, who kindly are going to reply - Ada

For rail travel and passes I can only suggest you see - http://www.seat61.com/Railpass-and-Eurail-pass-guide.htm#Should

'is that cheaper to just go there and use the train, ferry, or buses around there and pay in their currency? ' - there is no easy way or answer - you will have to do the maths. comparisons.
