China-Tibet off the beaten tracks

Hi there
I'm Carlo, Italian, from Rome. As I worked as a tour guide in china in the past and lived there for long I'm quite experienced with travelling there. Also, I'm quite fluent in chinese. Now gonna get back there soon (8th october-8th november). Will leave on the first week of october. These are my travel plans:
arrive at Hong Kong, get a visa
move to Hainan tropical island, chill out in beaches, see villages, etc..
stay in Yunnan, Sishuangbann (near Laos and Myanmar)
move to Kunming, a city where I lived and still have contacts there
go west to the border area with Tibet
cost: the budget is low as long as you can adapt to the local life style
I'm looking for travel companions, indipendent (but not necessarily experts of China), open minded, and easy to get along with. If interested contact me at carl_poddi @yahoo.it

i take it you are out there now? do you visit Dali? what's it like now? i was there in 1984. great place but pretty basic in those days.
i loved Kunming. the teahouses in the afternoons.
