I am likly moving temporarily to vancouver or burnaby...I have heard loads of great things about van but nothing about burnaby...
Is it similar to vancouver in terms of the city art and cool modern 'vibe'?
Also, does it have trees/bushes/flowers ect on and around the urban streets and areas or is quite a concrete jungle?
are the suburbs bleak or unique ( cookie cutter stucko homes or heritage style homes for example)??
Is there a large 'alternative' scene ? (artsy people)

No, it's 100% suburbia.

It's quite green just more housing than anything else, both cookie cutter and some few heritage houses.

No-that's in Vancouver.
Any and all details and impressions of the city are more than welcome ! (building stlyes, attitudes of people, police enforcement level, lack or too much of this or that ect ect)
It's easy to travel into Vancouver with the Skytrain-that's what everyone does.
Burnaby is not the place you want to be staying at if you are temporarily moving to Vancouver.
Stay in the city.
Depends. Metrotown is congested, and mall oriented. E. Hastings St. up Capital Hill past boundary has a history of Italian settlement. Eastern area down towards New West has Douglas Campus, some interesting architecture, and great views of the Fraser. Vancouvercentrists may disagree, but honestly, not all that glitters is gold.
DAMN! That's a lot of Burnaby hate.
Burnaby is a suburb. I would try to find something along the Skytrain line, if I were, unless you have a vehicle.
Living around Metrotown is not horrible. It's just very suburban.
You can get into Van very easily from here, and see all the beauty that is Van. If it's cheap, I have no issue with you going there. It is the hometown of International Olympics Spokesman and Alex P Keaton...Michael J. Fox.
The real interesting part of van is the fat peninsula to west. The rest of Vancouver drops it's skyline to low buildings after that anyways. North Burnaby has nice neighbourhoods. If you find a cheap place to live there, live in Burnaby.
