I was wondering if anyone had experiences booking tickets with openjet.com. They are undeniably cheap, but somehow they set off my alarms...
I am wondering about the exact same thing! I found a ticket there which is almost 200 euros cheaper than if I'd book from the airline directly, but somehow I don't really dare booking because although "openjet" gets about a million hits on google, none of them seem to provide experiences of people who have used the service. Strange eh ... especially as they're supposed to have been online for many years already (which could, on the other hand, also be seen as reassuring).
Anyone here who does have experiences booking with Openjet?

Not to be trusted!!! On their website it looks you have the right flights on that day.
After several screens you finally get the conformation screen. On that on you only see: Flight date name(s) if appropriate,
payment details but no flight times!!!! Lateron once you get your already confirmed email, you see that you made a different itinarary.
You can call them but no answer. Sending emails first nothing. Then you are informed that you can change your itinarary, after paying € 25,00. If you at last say ok, the only thing they do for that € 25,00 is calling the airline.... (Which actually is free of charge). Than they come back and tell you they are willing to change for € 170,00. As it appaers to be € 100,00 for the airline, (they do the job) and € 85,00 for them doing nothing. So all together € 110,00 earned for making false reservations!!! Complaints are not answered. Eventhough they put you on their blacklist, Mr Eckbergh himself..... They got a name for that it is called.... Anyway my lawyer is happy with this little job.
They're an accredited IATA agent and they accept credit cards, so there's no real cause for concern. You're indemnified by the credit card company if they go bust so you wouldn't lose out if they did get into financial difficulties.
They're owned by a Norwegian company called Travelstart, the latter of which has good reviews around the industry - links to those in the "About Us" page - so I don't think there's anything to worry about.
I would just like to add a point on Openjet... I have recently booked with them, and was charged nearly 10% more on my cc for the currency exchange, which is scandalous. They invoice in GBP but say they are Swedish, no Swedish currency is shown. They also have a strange address in Cape Town, Africa. They are very difficult to communicate with and charge for every little query. BEWARE
Hi. Openjet is typical of so many agents. Ive checked their prices many times and its so often cheaper to find their price then check the airline direct. Its nearly always less and a smaller card booking fee too. Many airlines and agents are now charging over the top card fees. I was in my bank the other day chatting with a member of staff about these booking fees and they are so unwarranted apparently.
I booked my ticket from Toronto to Istanbul through openjet. Hassle free!
I have been using Travelstart/Openjet for years and havent had any problems. Travelstart is actually Swedish, not Norwegian.

I tried to book a ticket through them last month and after I had agreed the price they put the price up. There is not contact number and by the time someone got back to me by email I had lost the flight. As well as the extra admin charges they charge a lot extra claiming it to be because of currency exchange even though they quoted UKP. This started last month and they still have my money. I have had to go elsewhere to get the flight and they still have my money. So I had to borrow to buy the same ticket elsewhere. They do not even appologise they just make stupid excuses.
Do not trust them under any circumstances.
I recently had to book and emergency flight to have a family member travel from South Africa to the UK. Checking on pricing etc Travelstart Openjet 9Just some of the names they operate under) offered a competitive service. I attempted to purchase the ticket using my card to claim air miles on my frequent travel card.
To my horror OPENJET immediatley withdrew the money and then refused to release the tickets, stating that Virgin had accepted an AMEX card but their website all of a sudden could not process AMEX cards and that they now wanted a further fee from myself on another bank card to cover their additional fees.
After much arguing via email, they no longer respond to messages, say the airline must re-emburse the money, have not provided a service, cost service fees on the card. This has been a disgusting service and in a time of high stress, definitley not needed. It would appear that the company is operated from Sweden with little or no recourse in other countries despite their IATA references. I have since used OPODO who have provided an outstanding service at a cheaper rate.
BEWARE using TRAVELSTART, their services are not what they advertise.
I have since reported them to IATA and the AMEX Card services
