I need some help with my trip....

Hi all,

AirAsia will get you to a number of countries fairly cheaply. You can take a train from Bangkok to Singapore but it is a fairly boring trip. From Singapore, ashort flight to Medan (maybe a stop at Lake Toba) then bus it to the east end of the island where you connect with a ferry then bus to Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta and onto the ferry for Bali and a bus ride to Denpasar.

You do not have to see the lot at once. Do it over a few years rather than lose a good job. The Philippines is a bit out of your way, unless maybe Hong Kong, Manila, Singapore sometime. Maybe Australia and NZ another time rather than trying to cram too much in now? £5,000 will go fairly quickly, ven though Asia is cheap (Don under isn't). Take a few credit cards, even if you have no plans to use them and take a cheque book with you. If you use them, you can send payments by post from Asia.

June/July you are getting into the rainy season in Asia. In some areas, this will be a few days of heavy rain a month. Others it will mean lots of rain.

For more definite answers, you need more definite questions. Make a number of small posts about queries you have.

Hi Cyberia.

Thanks for some of your tips. Your the first person that has givene me a different standoint. Eveyone else has been saying yu only live once etc etc. My work i dont think i could even get three weeks off but more to the oint i think i am looking for a life experience and not a holiday. Something i missed out on when i diddent go to uni !

If you want a life experience, and if it what you think is important to ya, then don't hesitate to go....who knows, with what you gained from 6 months trip in Asia, you can have a better job when you get back..... or maybe you will come to some place and you love to stay and work there, then your life will totally change....I think, you should take a risk....(^_^)....

It's depends on how much you want to experience in a certain country or culture, if just walking around the sight seeings, enjoying some food and taking picture, it doesn't take much time....but if you want to spend time to live among local people and have an in-depth understanding about culture, it can takes months or even years, ect.... So, it's hard to say 6 months for SEA is enough or not....

just go and see what's next...if you are run out of money, you can get some job in local country to pay for your staying expense ( English teacher, ect)...a lot of traveler I know cover their traveling expense in that way....it's hard to estimate money for such a long trip and over so many countries. You can learn how to survive in the world, that is experience though....So, take the backpack and go.....

Thank you for your replies guys

£380 inc taxes for 12th July. What do you think ?? That was on opodo. Its a single way ticket to Bangcock and might be the best thing for me because i dont really even know my time frames. I am just going to play it by ear.

I cant get a return becasue i want to end up in Australia and wont know any dates.

I am going to ask my job the question in a few months time when i let them know i am leaving, if i give them three or four months notice then maybe i can see what they think but its slim to non!
