Hi all, I'm currently living in Bs As and looking at taking a trip to the wetlands for 3-4 days and was looking for some advice from anyone who has been. I saw on another thread that someone mentioned the HI in Mercedes do packages so got in touch with them and they seem decent value. I was wondering what there is to do in Colonia Pellegrini? Can you spend a day there by yourself and take some walks and see wildlife and things or do you need to take excursions to see anything? Also anyone know how easy it is to get from Mercedes to Cordoba?
The park is virtually inaccessible without a boat, unless you're an experienced horseman (horsist? horseback rider? well, whatever). Only a very small part (a handful of hour-long marked trails) is accessible on foot. Better not go alone, as there is a rather real risk of coming across large cats (not sure what kind it was, not a puma but still fairly big and ferocious. I nearly got attacked by one. Had to run like hell).
There is very little to do in Carlos Pellegrini besides fighting the mosquitoes, reading and participating in excursions. The town doesn't really deserve that designation: it's more of a hamlet. A weekend is definitely enough to see all that is open to the public.
For Mercedes - Cordoba, change busses in Santa Fe.
