Hey Im interested in moving to either England or UK from the US and i was just wondering on what i need to do. Im in the beginning stages of this so im trying to gather as much info as i can. It would be helpful to know where would be the best place to live, what would be an ideal amount of money to bring over and where in the US i would need to go and try to get the ball rolling. One important thing you need to check is the visa. See the for more information on how to apply for a visa to work in the UK. Basically, visa application is points-based, so you need to score points in categories (academic qualification, latest earning, language, savings, etc) in order to get your visa approved.

First, YES you must look at the UK border agency website. Know all the rules. They dont joke around over here and with the new Tory Govt, Immigration is going to get harder and harder for non EUs like us.
The point system is tough. If your under 30 you can apply for the TIER 1 visa. But you really need a UK Degree to really get points. Without a degree you may have trouble getting all your points.
If you can get a job offer, you can apply for a tier 2 visa, but this will cost your company alot of money and they must prove you are more qualified than any in the UK. - This is the Visa I have. Its not easy to get.
To answer your money questions - 10K is a good starting point. They may ask to see your bank statements. Have atleast 10k (dollars) saved.
But without a Work Visa, you can only stay 6 months (legally)
