Peru with a backpack or a suitcase???

I'm a well seasoned traveller and my faithful backpack has been with me through many a country but I am getting a little weary of carrying it with me and was wondering what peoples views are on me taking a suitcase (with wheels!) around Peru with me on a three week trip which I am taking in July???

Well, I have recently used a rollie, and I don't like the things. They're designed to get you from customs to the cab. If yer bootin' around a lot, they blow. Any little bump and you're resetting yourself. I'd rather have the stuff on my back.

But I'm a big guy, and my pack is small and he and I have had alot of trips together so he's perfectly suited to me. If you don't mind the rollie upsetting itself on any stray manhole or crack in the sidewalk, have at 'er.

Ultimately, in Peru, if you're humping alot, I( would stick with the backpack.

I would definitively go with a backpack. The roller suitcase is likely to get in the way and be a huge annoyance to lug around town. The sideways and streets are not always very smooth so it would be a bumpy ride.

Another alternative is to bring the suitcase and a small backpack. As long as you are staying in a hotel/hostel over night you can leaving the suitcase and fill the backpack with necessities for the day.

If you are not staying in the hostel/hotel for the night you can sometimes leave your bag at the front desk. At the end of the day you can return, grab you suitcase and move to the next stop.
