ITALY

We are planing to travel thru Italy in a motor home in May 2011.I have been to so many bookshops in South Africa but just cannot find a good travel guide for Italy. We will be arriving in Rome and have 25 days to travel. If possible maybe attend the Monaco Grand Prix. I would love to hear from all with ideas, advice and suggestions.thankx

Go to Lake Como, such a stunning place.

if you want to see somethings really authentic visit florence surely

Such a wonderful country. The people, the scenery - oh and the fantastic food ! !
I suggest the Dolomites and Bira in the SE of the country on the coast.
Hated Venice with a passion (if that makes sense) and was outraged at the ridiculous prices there too.
Each to their own though. You'll love the country.

If you wants to have the amazing experience then surely go to Milan gallery to see the fantastic art of da vinci.Leonardo Da Vinci’s Last Supper is one of the world’s most famous paintings and a must-see when in Milan. To protect the painting, only a limited number of Last Supper Tickets are available per day

Italy is a beautiful country and I think a travel guide that you shouldn't be without is Rick Steve's ITALY 2010. He covers all the bases and knows Europe very well. He has made a business (Europe Through The Back Door) of making European travel easier and more enjoyable for Americans and Canadians.

Don't miss Lake Como,Cingue Terra,Rome ,Florence ,Venice and Naples and the south of Italy.

As you can see, I love this country and I intend to re-visit Venice next Sep!

just returned from rome -- was like seeing my 5th grade ( u.s. ) history book come to life , things i remember from class right there in front of me ; as nice as it was it was quite touristy ( expcected ) and quite a few ( lots ) people ( we were there in oct. which is
" low " tourist season ) i can only imagine what it must be like during " high " season
( crowded and very hot in the summer - or so we were told )

my fave tourist book(s) are the ' lets go " series ( available for most cities or countries ) they are bsicaly for low budget travel , give ideas how to get the same travel experience for less $$ and have ideas of things to do and see off the beaten path

check for travel book(s) on amazon.com , get used books ( less cost ) i cant imagine most countries havent changed from one year to the next ( hotels same name , tourist sites still in the same place , bus routes still the same , etc. ( money saved spent on travel memories while in country )

be well & enjoy the rest of the day

Italy is a great place to travel. It has many beautiful cities and Venice is one of them. Venice is situated in the middle of water on a lagoon. Piazza San Marco church, museums and palaces are the main attractions here. Don't miss to go for a gondola ride to watch out the picturesque waterways.........

Rick Steve's Italy is AMAZING! I'm using it to plan my trip for December 2010. It is so detailed and gives you options for all types of budgets. Make sure to buy the updated version.

Safe travels
