Im going to Vietnam next month and i was wondering if you guys can reccomend any tours i should do. I am going to do the 2 day Halong Bay and the Sapa village homestay and also the DMZ tour. Any other reccomendations??
If you are going to be in Southern Vietnam I would recommend visiting the amazing . You can easily arrange a day trip to there from Ho Chi Minh City.

The DMZ tour was a disappointment. The Vinh Moc tunnels were good, the rest is bland. Very little left at Khe Sanh, the Rockpile is good for 1-2 minutes and a photo. The ethnic village we visited was OK, but the inhabitants expect to be paid for a photo of them. This was back in '06, got to be worse now. Very staged.
I enjoyed the from Hue. I reviewed it for 'tripadvisor'. My photos cover it. Almost everyone who visits Nha Trang go on a bay tour. Cheap, fun, good lunch, swimming/snorkeling. Crowded?. Yes. Cheesy? Yes. But almost everyone has a great day out on the water. covers our day on NT bay.
DaLat has many tours. Pick one that includes: Bao Dai's Summer Palace, 'Crazy House, 'Chicken Village' Tuyen Lam Lake. Forget Valley of Love, Prenn waterfall, Cremaillere Railway, flower gardens. Great for VN newlyweds, not us. covers my time in DaLat.
A HCMC city tour was OK. It hits all the major sightseeing spots in an a/c bus. You can do it on your own. Hire one of the pedicab guys that hang out on De Tham St. if you don't want an organized tour. A delta tour is worthwhile IMO. I just did a one day, but you may have time for a 2-3 day tour. You can combine a delta tour with a boat trip to Cambodia if you are heading to Phnom Penh.

for Halong Bay. there are a lot of boats for you to choose. Just depend on your budget.
And sapa,how many days you want to go? sleep at hotel or homestay?
The hostel i have booked in to is Hanoibackpackpackershostel and they run an overnight tour on the Jolly Roger boat. Its about $120. How does this sound? do you have any experience with this tour or do you have any reccomendations?

You should also contact the free student guide services in Hanoi (Hanoikids), Danang/Hoi An (Danangkids) and Saigon (Saigonhotpot). The best thing about these city tours is the guides themselves - young students who are just doing it to practice English. I still correspond with several of these guides because they have become friends.

DO NOT book any tours until you are in that city. Competition is fierce, esp. in HaNoi. Get at least 3 quotes outside of your hotel quote. Hit Sinh Cafe, Hanh Cafe, and independent travel shops as well. Have all quotes written down. Compare and then play one against the other. The next travel agent will see that you have done your homework and give you their best quote. On my HaLong Bay tour there were at least 4 different rates for the same day tour. One was double what I paid. Shop around!
I would agree with Johnny with. Contact them and you will get a better view of HaNoi than w/o their guidance.
yes, I also know some info about Hanoikids. They are students and they want to practise english, they will guide you around Hanoi for free. It sounds very interesting, right?
I think when you are in Hanoi, first of all, you can ask hotel staff to give some info for you about tours, and then can walk around Old Quarter. There are plenty of travel agents around. Compare price, and basing on your feeling of service. Then decide.
But tell me your budget, I will give you some good boats, as well as tour operators for Halong Bay and sapa.
