Plans are to land Bangkok - overland with tour Cambodia - Vietnam - Bangkok. Then down through Thailand - overland end up at Singapore (our next flight).
My answer depends on how much time you have between landing in BKK and your flight out of SIN. Also your how much money you have to spend before leaving SIN.
Hey
thanks for your reply. We have mid feb till early april. money... how ever much we have left after leaving home oct this yr, so not sure. Are there any probs with travelling through this route?
You should have no problems at all. The only place you need to worry about a visa is Vietnam (can be arranged online or at a consulate ahead of time) - other countries at the border/airport. I suggest flying Bangkok-Hanoi on Air Asia and then starting the long road back to Bangkok in a slow southerly way by train and as few buses as you can get away with. Time of year could influence your travel plans. Educate yourself about the problems/scams you might encounter in each country so you won't appear as green as you really are. It's a wonderful area - you might consider Laos as well.
I agree with most of what Johnny recommended. Fly BKK-HAN on After HaLong Bay, SaPa, head south to HCMC. You have 2 real choices. Use the bus system or the . Open tour bus is cheaper, more convenient, more accidents. The train is more expensive, must book ahead of time, safer. I prefer the bus, Johnny likes trains. Your decision. Either way you work your way south through: Hue, DaNang, Hoi An, Nha Trang, Mui Ne, DaLat, HCMC. Or branch off and hit less visited places like Pleiku, Buon Ma Thuot. After HCMC you can enter Cambodia through the or take a like I did to Phnom Penh.
Perhaps get in some beach time at . covers my last time through. You could visit & if you wanted to see a part of Cambodia not many visit. After southern Cambodia, you will travel up to Siem Reap via . Bus is cheaper, boat has better photo ops. Tour Angkor 3 days, then back to BKK.
Good luck with your planning and send me a PM if you have questions.
