Machu Picchu

Hi,

The rainy season in Peru is from December through March; that's generally the period to avoid, especially February, during which the inca trail is closed for cleanup. Peak season is from June through August. For Machu Picchu, if you want to hike the classic inca trail, you should book at least five months in advance for that period. May or September would probably be my choice for best months to go, as the touristy areas won't be completely overcrowded yet/anymore, while the less touristy areas would at least still have some other travellers around. (The inca trail should still be booked at least four months in advance during those months, though.)

We went in early May, and the weather was perfect. Cool nights but perfect, warm days.

What companies have people had good experiences with? I'm looking to book for June/July next year.

SAS were tremendous when we went in Mar/Apr 08.

Great service, well updated, fantastic guides, treated porters well from what I saw, plentiful food en route. For me the guides passion made the trip.

I would recomend you the time from May-September... there you have tons of sun and calor ;=)
We enjoyed MP really a lot and you have to do it... -snip-
