Easiest and cheapest way to get from Toronto to Philadelphia

Hi,
I'm just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for getting from Toronto to Philly. I am going to toronto next week for 6 weeks and I have friends who will be in philly at the end of June and would like to go there to meet them for a long weekend. It looks like it's painstaking and expensive and I'm wondering is it worth my while going for such a short time i.e. 5 days?
Thanks

Try and pick up a cheap flight unless you want to spend many hours on a few buses and awaiting connections.

If you can't find one cheap enough you could try bidding with priceline, bid4aflight, skyauction and the like.

Yes, possibly more trouble (and money) than it's worth. I've done similar in the past.

I'm really not sure what type of budget you have, but a train ride is pretty inexpensive. I believe you can get from Toronto to Philly for about $120-$130 right now.

Just take your iPod or something to keep you entertained. The ride one-way is a little over 16 hours.

Good luck!

Thanks guys. I didn't know about bidding for flights, that's good to know for future reference too.
The price of the train isn't too bad but it's the length, it's just soo long. I guess it's a toss up between paying more to get there quickly or paying less for a long tiresome journey

Just look around you can easily find cheap flight tickets...

Anne,

Yea the length is crazy. You're definitely going to be paying for convenience. However, I went over to Expedia and found they had flights that are non-stop ($1500+), 1-stop ($1,091-$1,400+), and 2-stop ($781-$1,122).

Non-stop flights took about 1 1/2 hours, 1-stop flights were about 4 1/2 hours, and 2 stop flights hit about 10 hours.

Even if you opted for the 2-stops it would still cost between $781 to $1,122 for a 10 hour trip. Might as well save $650-$1,000, pack a laptop with WIFI and take the train

Wow mhg, those prices for flights are extortionate
Oh yeah didn't know the trains have Wifi, that would actually sway me towards the train.
Thanks!

yea, I'm sure there are other places that have them cheaper. It just happened to be the one I checked. Oh, and not all trains have wifi so do a little searching If you find a train you like there is always those little modems you just plug into a usb port and get access.

Hey, flying will be quite expensive but you can take Mega Bus for like 60-70 bucks round trip which is pretty cheap. Just be prepared to spend about 10 or so hours on the bus each way. Hope this helps!
