I wish to buy a Pentax K5 to take on my trip. I wonder whether it will be too bulky and heavy to carry around. Picture quality is very important. So far I have been using a Panasonic Lumix TZ1. I loved the small size and overall was happy with the results, but I want to upgrade to get a better quality (take pictures in raw), but am concerned about the weight. As I walk around about 8 hours a day, will it be too cumbersome. Any advice from experienced photographers/travellers will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I've travelled around the world with a DSLR since 2004, and have never regretted the step up. Yes, the weight can be a burden, and yes, it's bulky and takes up quite a bit of space in your daypack. But it's been always and completely worth it.
Also see in which I wrote a bit more about my experience, and someone on the second page chimed in to echo it.
