Best place to live 2-3 months in England?

Hi
I'm planning a year long trip through Europe and at some point I want to find a job and apartment in England to make some money for travel. I'm travelling with my best friend and we will both be 19 when we leave. Which city is best for temp work and flats? We'll have our work visas when we leave. We're really into the outdoors so somewhere close to lots of outdoor activities would be nice. Preferably Southern England with a major airport. I think London is too expensive so probably not there. Thanks

Folowing are the few suggestions for you:
East Yorkshire.
Exeter's a ok place to live, aways seems to be a lot of IT jobs about.
Chichester area is nice, apart from the ridiculous house prices.

Good luck! Have Fun..

Hey, the south of England is really quite expensive to live in general but if you insisted on staying there then id suggest Exeter or Bristol. Loads of outdoor activities to do there!

Other than that I'd agree that going north is a better option.
Manchester or Sheffield (right by the peak district) would be good and you would be close to Manchester airport.
If you didn't fancy going way up north then Id suggest Nottingham, friendly city, not overly expensive, and it's only about 2hrs from London?

But remember, your never to far from beautiful countryside in england!

Hi Mel,

The best place to stay in England is Bournemouth. Its a really nice sea side town with great shops and night life. You're about 1hr 30mins ish from Heathrow so its not too far.

The renting prices are a bit pricey but you don't necessarily have to live in the centre of town. If you drive 10 minutes one way, you'll be in Sandbanks/Poole Harbour (which is the second largest natural harbour in the world) and if you drive 10 minutes the other way, you'll be in the countryside.

You've also got the Jurassic Coast in Dorset - google Durdle Door/Lulworth Cove. You won't get anywhere nicer than that in England!

If you're here in June, you should try and go to the Isle of Wight Festival too. Great great festival, I've been 3 years in a row and loved them all. Can't go this year as I've got to save for my own travels!

If you want anymore info then you're welcome to message me!

Holly

p.s where are you coming from?

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'm coming from Vancouver Island, BC, Canada.

Hey
A lot of the suggestions are big cities but if your interested in small cities or towns I would suggest somewhere in Lincolnshire like Lincoln. It has a beautiful cathedral and castle not to far from skegness (seaside about hour away)

Cheers

Chelle x
