The first thing to think of is where you are coming from. Where do you live now? That will make a difference. After all there is no point in travelling back the wrong way now is there?
When are you planning on leaving, summer or winter? Again, this can make a difference.
What sort of work do you do now? This helps to give information to assist you.
If you can try and be really specific with your needs it makes life much easier for us to help you. I am sure that with some more info you will get lots of advise.

Your trip sounds amazing and time scale sounds amazing.
Me and my husband did most of SE Asia a couple of years ago on a backpacker route entering via Bali into Singapore and making our way over land through Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and China (various places) before heading home via Beijing.
We've also done Nepal (on a separate 2 week vaca) and have just returned from a trip which involved Shanghai, Chengdu and Tibet. We got back last week and it was amazing and I would def recommend!
Would be happy to help... esp with Visa's etc as it was minefield when we set out to book our trips.
