We are looking to go for two weeks, 4 nights Havana then 10 nights Matanza Varadero (self organising with accommodation from this site). Websites recommend not to go in Aug/Sep. Has anyone been at this time of year and know what the weather was like?
August expect some days with good sunshine and some days overcast when you may get some rain.
However, August is in the hurricane season for the Caribbean and while it is unlikely, it is not impossible that you may get one while in Cuba that time of year.
Yes, October is a fine time to go there. Many go to the Caribbean for winter sunshine.
As to accommodation, also check out lowcostholidays, and cheaper, hostelbookers (which has cheap hotels too.)
