I haven't really planned where I want to go :/ although definitely want to go to Thailand, thinking maybe Bali, India and China also. Not sure where else :/
Also not sure how much I would need to be able to afford it all lol.

Im planning to go on a RTW trip in Jan 2013 starting in India, then SE Asia, maybe Australia, then South America.
Im in the process of saving money and ill hopefully have about £12000 for the trip.

I bought RTW flights for £2200 and also the Trans Siberian Railway for £1300 so that's all my transportation paid for.
I fly from London to Russia, get on the train to Beijing from Moscow, fly Beijing - Hong Kong, Hong Kong - Bangkok, Singapore - Perth, Perth - Darwin, Darwin - Alice Springs, Alice Springs - Cairns, Melbourne - Christchurch, Auckland - Fiji, Fiji - Los Angeles and finally L.A - London. So that's quite a lot of travelling for £3500.
That now leaves me with accommodation and daily living costs for 11 months. I have budgeted roughly £20 a night for hostels and £15 living costs. That equates to about £10-11k. I do have a WHV for Australia so will hopefully pick up work as I go. Also, pre-paid for accommodation in Sydney over Christmas and New Year because it sells out about 10 months in advance!
Basically, anything left will be for excursions which will probably be £1-2k.
So to make sure that I have everything covered I have assumed £15-16k in total including EVERYTHING. Now, I hope that I don't spend all that, but at least I am covered if I do. So far I have saved £10k and 12 weeks before I leave so doing last minute savings!! Hope to have £12k before I leave.
I haven't bought Travel Insurance (£150), vaccinations (£150) or all my visa's (£250) yet either. All stuff to consider.

That sounds like an awsome trip, i didn't know it was possible to get flights from Fiji to places like LA. Now i know
Planning to go for about 10 months to a year but ive still got some planning to do! Im going it alone atm but anyone that wants to come along is more than welcome

I'm 21 also and planning on going travelling in 2013 but am lucky enough to have my younger brother joining me also, any advice on where to begin planning?
Also I'm in the process of reading 'The Rough Guide to First Time Around the World' which covers so much when thinking about going travelling, also that of travelling alone.. maybe worth a look...?

Yeah i bought that guide also and found it helpful. Think the most helpful advise for RTW travel is this site tho.

Just to give you a rough idea of how much RTW tickets are i booked mine the other day....
and my RTW flight ticket cost be approx £2000 (Flying London-Mumbai/New Dehli-Bangkok/Singapore-Bali/Bali-Sydney/Sydney to Santiago/Rio de janeiro-London) with STA travel including an allowance of up to 3 flight changes :D
your routes pretty much same as mine, only planning on being in sydney though for a few nights as would rather do S.America more over Aus. More value for your ££ :D Hope you find a partner to travel with mate, if not i'm sure i'll bump into your around them areas anyways sometime.
