I have a D-visa for Poland valid for one year that expires on July 14, 2012. I have not left Poland the whole time I have been here. I have a valid USA passport and was told that as long as I leave Poland before my visa expires on the 14th and have my passport stamped I will not have any issues. I also was told that if I did not leave Poland in the six months before my visa expires I would have no issues. I came straight from the USA to work in Poland and have not left. Can I still travel after the D visa expires? Do I have to first go through a non schegen country to activate my passport benefits? I have been told that several Americans who work in Poland use up their usa passport 3month in 6month, go to the Ukraine and reenter Poland the next day and have no issues traveling in Europe either. This is shocking and illegal but could I do it and it not be illegal? Oh I had the D-visa valid before coming to Poland.
