Hi all,
i intend going to thailand in Feb next year as part of my vacation as i have heard its a lovely tourist destination. The problem is i dont know what part of thailand to visit, and i want to be close to the beach and shopping mall. Anybody will a good suggestion and maybe the name of a not so expensive but comfortable resort will be appreciated!
Somewhere on Phuket. It's quite busy in places but some great beaches and great water. And malls too:

Days can be quiet on some areas but they come to life at night.
Maybe a few days in Bangkok at the end of your holiday? Lots and lots of malls where you can buy some great stuff to take home (if you go there first, you could end up dragging lots of stuff around with you).
Thailand is very cheap (but do book accommodation early as February is high season) so people tend to stay there some time as most of the cost is getting there. You get 30 days visa free by flying in or 60 days on a visa with the option of extending it for another 30 days when there. I have had some 90 day breaks in Thailand (Dec to March) and had sun every day, with some rain just two days, and that is gone without trace an hour after it stops.
