Heading to France in June - Questions/Suggestions

Hey!

Slow down !

You really only have 1 or 2 weekends to tour during your studies.

Do plenty of research on wikipedia, local forums etc and aim to do one place per weekend. Why not do Nice for weekend, or Barcelona (about the same distance) ?

Your 10 day tour segment will also be limited - finding places to stay, packing, takes a surprising amount of time. You could easily spend the 10 days in Languedoc.

If you really want to cover some ground, look at the low cost airlines. They are usually cheaper than rail and have some great routes from this area .

Again I'd aim to do a two or three centre trip which allows you to explore rather than overdo the travel.

Not sure about 'really nice', but Marseille is definitely characterful and interesting, well worth a visit. I'm also keen on Avignon, which is easily doable by train from Montpelier and is very interesting.

As for Nice, Cannes, St Tropez, they are all quite flash and pretty expensive. Personally I would only bother with one of these 3, but I guess it depends on what you like to do - maybe flash riviera is what you're mainly looking for.
