My head hurts, please help me plan

It would help if you gave some basic info like where do you live and what time of the year are the school holidays.

I'm not quite sure what you want. You seem to want peace and quiet with activities.

School holidays are the most expensive times as you know.

Try lowcostholidays who do flights and accommodation and have a good selection of hotels at different prices.

If you want a busier holiday, you could try Rome which has lots and lots to see, there and nearby.

Istanbul was amazing, and you could head south from there to their Mediterranean beaches as well. Look at the - a good site.
