Hi there, looking to do pretty much the same thing. I plan to arrive in Oz sometime in September and spend a few months (Probably leave sometime just before christmas or in the new year).
Will be travelling alone for the first time and am nervous but am looking forward to it. Would love to find someone doing something similar.

Thats seems like the same sort of plan im thinking? Either coming back for christmas then going back in the new year and heading to somewhere else is Aus or carry on through....
Im glad theres people feeling as nervous as me, i guess once you start meeting people the fear goes away & the fun starts!!!

I'm planning to go in September too and travel for a year starting in Sydney and working my way up to the great barrier reef!
Yea I'm proper nervous, and I don't get nervous normally, but i think it's just a side effect of sheer excitement overload lol
I'm debating whether or not to do something like Ultimate OZ, i heard OZ Intro is a total waste of money because you can sort everything out yourself for free (bank account, sim card etc) but i suppose the upside to it is that your doing a weeks worth of activities you wouldn't even think about doing and your meeting like minded people (who are also travelling alone) so it kind of makes the start of your trip a lot less daunting!
Sorry for the rambling on but I hope this kinda makes you feel at ease and who knows, we could be doing Ultimate OZ on the same week

I think the excitment overload sounds about right
I was debating on going it alone, but found the comfort doing the Ultimate Oz, as i knew i wouldnt be totally alone when arriving! Im very ditzy at times so had the fears of forgetting something, but with the company i guess i felt abit more 'looked after' but if i was brave enough id certainly do it myself, save alot of money! But yes all the activities sold it to me too!!
And yes we could, it seems alot of people are starting to book on in spet which makes it alot less daunting!

well i just booked my flight for the 8th of Sept so will arrive in sydney on the 10th!
now whether to do ultimate oz or not? hmmmm lol x

Been looking at the Ultimate Oz site, does look good and lots of good reviews, i think i might try go for it! If my funds let me lol
Who are you booking with? I booked with Southall Travel, and got a flight with Singapore Airlines for £1067, i know it sounds a lot but Singapore are an amazing airline! Quality service, and a bit more leg room than normal planes which i think is needed on a flight as long as that!
If your planning to stay in Oz for a year (which is what I'm doing) you'll need to be able to change your return date as you can't book a return date a year after arrival, so Singapore Airlines let you change the return date free of charge (apart from if there are any differences in fares), most other airlines charge for this.

Yes heard nothing but great reviews, so they must be doing something right I know, im save save saving all summer! It will be worth it in the end though!
I have no idea yet who exactly im booking with, got a travel advisor looking for flights! And im searching, i was recommended to look at STA travel? Ive heard good things about Singapore airlines too! Im looking for the same sort of thing an open return, just book when i fancy popping back to see family, then looking to head straight back out there!

No worries! I've been looking on this forum and there's quite a few people already booked up on Ultimate OZ for that week, might have to make a decision quick before it fills up! x
