What is the good hotel in Thailand?

Hello all,

Have you considered reading accommodatioin reviews on tripadvisor.com

If you do a search:

asiarooms patong beach

You'll get a long list sorted by recommended. If you change that to sort by price, there are some real cheapies.

While the idea of tripadvisor reviews is good, it has been perverted by spiteful and nasty people who have given good places very bad reviews for trivial reasons. Some four star hotels have been made to look like poor hostels.

Find out what area you want to stay in (Google maps) and pick a place out. You might not want too close to noisy night life.

End of the year is high season, so book within the new few months as even now rooms are starting to go.

Any website with accom. reviews (this site, tripadvisor, asiarooms, travelfish, travellerspoint, virtual tourist, agoda) should be read with a degree of caution. Particularly if the poster is making a first time post or posting from within the same country. Tripadvisor has certainly been inundated with negative accom. posts in recent years, most prevalent to Vietnam. Not surprising as they are by far the No. 1 accom. review site.

As I’ve stated, I will scrutinise the poster’s details. I also usually disregard negative comments relating to trivial issues. Also, comments that say eg “better options can be found” but don’t state the name of any alternative accom. Some people also write a negative comment because they expected staff at a hotel/GH to be a walking travel agent.

Anyway, here are some places on my shortlist (subject to future research) for next time I visit Patong Beach:
Ferb GH-650B low season - see http://www.ferbguesthouse.com/
The Green Mansion,78/7 Soi Wattana,Beach Rd,a/c,cable,fridge,600B,delux-800B

The Expat Hotel,163/17 Ratuthit,delux dbl,a/c,cable,safe,minibar,pool,890B
Le Jardin Bungalows,172/18 Nanai,dbl,a/c,cable,pool, email for price
Sansala House,66/26 Soi Veerakit,Nanai Rd,dbl,a/c,cable,fridge,table-800B-website
Nirvana Hotel,Ratuthit Rd,dbl,a/c,cable,fridge,safe-600/750balcony
Hasan's Palace,10/4 Ratchpatanusorn,dbl,a/c,cable,fridge,minibar-700B-website
Capri Residence,132 Nanai Rd,standard dbl,a/c,cable,fridge,balcony-700B-website
Casa Jip GH,dbl,a/c,cable,fridge-550B(recomm)-website
The Welcome Inn,Ratuthit Rd,dbl,a/c,cable,fridge,pool table-500B-website

If a certain place interests you check their website if they have one. And yes, as you will be travelling in high season, definitely have your accom. prebooked

To combat competitor attack-reviews (as well as false praise by the owner), reviews here on travellerspoint are clearly indicated as "trusted review" when they are made by either someone who has actually booked the accommodation in question through travellerspoint or its partners, or by someone who is otherwise trusted on travellerspoint through years of contributing (respected members/travel gurus).
I guess it's still possible for owners/competitors to actually make bookings and then leave such reviews, but the money they'd need to spend certainly creates quite a high barrier, and we also have the ability to flag suspicious reviews to bring them to the attention of the admins, so even if it happens, it's likely to be detected sooner or later.

I can recommend you the perfect hotel for Patong Beach!

My friend and I stayed at the Patong Beach Lodge.

This hotel was absolutely amazing.. fairly cheap, i think we payed around $440 for 9 nights. The room we got had two single beds, a private bathroom and was quite large with a small balcony. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, in fact we were sad to say goodbye to them when we left.

The location? Simply superb! Located on Rat-U-Thit Road, which is one road back from the beach and about a 5 minute walk from Bangla Road, we were close to everything!

We are going back to Patong at the end of this year, and we plan on staying in the same hotel.

Here is the link to the tripadvisor review page as well.

Sukumvit Soi 1,Nana Hotel : It has a great location for the tourist area right off sukhumvit road. I think It is cheap, clean, and safe.
