It's difficult to make suggestions when I don't know your specific preferences, the dates of your stay in Costa Rica and the location at your arrival. (San Jose, Liberia ?)
There is no lack of possibilities to keep you busy!
I am flying into San Jose on the 27. I have 27-28-29 and feb 7-8 free to play. I am an outdoor person. Have done the Pucuare a couple of times, thinking about doing some different sections of river, done all the other tours of volcanoes, plantations, canals, etc. I was thinking of a motorcycle day trip, visiting a womens tribe, something!!!
To stay near San Jose, perhaps a visit to the InBioParque in Santo Domingo de Heredia might interest you. Apart from interactively displaying the bio-diversity of the country, the park now also shows renewable energy applications. If you like to walk in beautiful areas with splendid views and lack of tourists, the coffee plantations between this town, San Isidro and San Rafael de Heredia are ideal locations. Also the day walk from San Jose de la Montaña to Sacramento and volcan Barva is another experience, not listed on travel agents' sites.
You can fly by "parapente" (no idea what this is called in English) near Caldera (approx. 2 hrs. drive from San Jose). Check the site parapentepuravida.com to get the idea. It's less frightening (to me) than bungy jumping (50 mins. from San Jose)
With these you have "loftier" activities in both Central Valley and Pacific areas.
thanks for the information. I will look at all of them and see what feels good. I know I have seen a lot of things in CR but I just know that there are millions more to see there!!!
