Hi!
my boyfriend and i are both in out mid 20's and are planning on a trip to america in april of next year for about 3weeks, just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what places are a must to see....
i really want to go to dsineyland and las vegas,
any suggestions are appreciated.....
I think after one has been on this forum for a while it becomes somewhat tedious to reply to the many posts that basically ask what is there to see and do in America?.You could spend 10 lifetimes in America and still not see and do all that America has to offer.
Maybe we could narrow it down a bit as to what part of America you will be in,what are your interests,how do you plan on getting around?

I was thinking the same thing. First off welcome indeed Michelle. But jambo said it best, this question comes up every few weeks. Maybe search the threads for similar topics. But we'd be happy to give you help if you can narrow down your interests. City stuff? Scenery? History? (avoid Boston if you are Brit, they like to crow about the Revolutionary War a lot up there).
The problem, as I see it, is that you want to see the "plastic" America - LV and DL! Just be sure to bring twice as much money as you had planned to spend - this is not a cheap colony! We do have some rather nice natural areas too (Pacific Coast of N. California/Oregon, Yosemite, Grand Canyon). Plan to rent a car as transport in this country is lousy.

Not sure that's totally fair and no different than me wanting to see the Eiffel Tower or Big Ben simply because they are famous.
I kind of agree with jambo. I think people ought to take a little more initiative on there own and search the archives, and old forums, peruse the Travel Guide section and strart reading. Once they've done that, I'll bet they can get a lot more specific on the areas they want to visit.
I'll answer your question directly Michelle Disneyland is a fun time, you should get a 2 day pass and also check out the California Dreaming park that is right next door and actually has better rides I thought! I have only been to Vegas once, and was 19 at the time so didn't get the chance to check out the night life - although its not my kind of scene anyway. But I can recommend the light show and finding a big buffet breakfast...heck, any meal lol, which won't be a problem, theres plenty of options.
I do have to agree with Daawgon, I have had some of my best experiences in the States in the real outdoors. Why not see the Grand Canyon seeing as you'll be close enough. I also really enjoyed Monument Valley, Mesa Verde and Zion

but thank you hey_monkee i will look up those places u mentioned....that was the kind of suggestions i was after...
in 3weeks do u think it is practical to go over to see new york aswell or save it for another time, i dont want to try and squeeze too much in....
by the looks of it hiring a car seems the way to go while there, are there any restrictions eg. have to be over the age of 25??

Heres some ones idea of Americas top 25 tourist destinations.
Not sure where you are from but if it's Europe you will probably come through NY so why not stay for a few days? I'm not the biggest fan of The City (hold on to your purse and be alert at ALL TIMES!) it's something you simply must see. But "hiring a car" may not be practical seeing as it will take you 5 days to drive across the country, and that's with hardly any stops. By suggestion is to fly to Florida for Disneyworld, then fly west to Vegas. From there you can set out and see a lot of the natural beauty the States have to offer. You simply have to see the Grand Canyon and it's only a few hour drive from Las Vegas. As for car rental ages I'm thinking 21 is the magic number. How old are you?
